ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System Standard
Arguably the three most common standards in the manufacturing industry today is that of the ISO 9001, ISO 45 001 & ISO 14 001 Management System standards.
Just like the ISO 9000 family of standard. ISO 14 000 also has a family of standards. The ISO 14000 family of International environmental management standards are all guideline documents to ensure an organization understand how to implement an effective Environmental management system.
The ISO 14001 standards specify that an organization establish the following:

* Plan to develop environmental objectives and targets
* Implement a plan to achieve these objectives and targets
* Implement a PDCA (or Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to review the corrective action in a typical Management Review Forum or meeting.
The main purpose of an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is to:
* Enhance the company's environmental performance
* To assist in achieving your company objective with Environmental goals
* To assist in fulfilling the applicable legal or compliance objectives and guidelines.
ISO 14001 standard is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type and nature, and applies to the environmental aspects of its activities, products and services.
